In celebration of a fourth year of innovation and creativity at Festibelly here is a free mix from longtime festibelly cohort Fear of Theydon who is curating our new Treehouse DJ booth which can be found nestled amongst the canopies of the New Forest. Located atop a hill overlooking the whole festival, think of it as the hippest disco in the Ewok Village.

Kicking the day off from the Nest will be Southsea’s Handsome Dave Rocker; esteemed purveyor of the very finest in old school Hip Hop, Electro, 60s Prog and other classics that are so rad, you’ll be bummed out you weren’t born in a different era. Continuing on a vintage tip will be Sunday Best’s in-house beat-wizard Low-Fro, who will be delivering us a special one-off dusty attic Motown & Disco set [don't miss him DJing elsewhere at night time too, if you want a masterclass in deep Future Garage riddims]. Esteemed Festibelly & Bestival residents Duncan and Jonny of Sombrero Sound System take the reigns next for a set of tried and tested party bangers, old and new. Reigning champions of every DJ soundclash they’ve ever competed in, you know you can trust these guys to bring the joy!

Moving things into a headier territory comes the next Festibelly resident DJ Leeland, who brews us up a concoction of Disco so cosmic you will need to bring your massive binoculars to capture the entirety of its true magnificence. Voyaging deeper still come Danny & Tom Psychemagik, who grace the decks for a very eclectic afternoon set, taking us into realms of wonked out Psychedelia and the kind of vintage musical oddities that have come to characterise their own sound, before they enter night mode and tear up the decks with something stronger elsewhere a little later in the evening. Another renowned cratedigger whom we are very lucky to have onboard this year is Cardiff-based Producer/DJ Channel Swimmer, who composes all of his tracks from samples of other artists’ music. Think Avalanches, J Dilla, DJ Shadow and the Go Team! all drinking Pina Colada by the big swimming pool in the sky and you have the sound of his music in visual form. Expect a mix of his influences and his own productions in this UK festival exclusive DJ set.

Boasting an eclectic mix of musical genres and disseminated by the cream of the uk’s current bright young music makers, evening sets at the Treehouse will be serving up an equally eclectic mix of audio-chicanery The late evening set is headed up by Sunday Best resident Producer/DJ Fear of Theydon will serve up a melodic entrée of anything from Shoegaze to Techno, depending on the toxicity of the dancefloor, as he warms up for new 2011 Ones To Watch duo Figures – an exhilarating partnership between Neo-Acid-House maestro Jamie Blanco and the wizard of Sparkle-House James Delay, who together will be showcasing their new joint productions, a wealth of their own individual works and other tunes currently floating their boat, which will make for an extremely danceable 90 minutes.

Taking over from these chaps is Festibelly resident DJ Mojo Filter whose sublime, dusty desert re-edits of everyone from Nina Simone to Johnny Cash to The Bees and beyond have gained him much-deserved kudos amongst some the finest of today’s DJ’s and blogs – this guy is truly one of the most versatile and experienced DJ’s we know and he never fails to take the party up, up and away!

And finally we reach this year’s Nest headliner, Throwing Snow aka Ross Tones, an individual steadily gaining himself a rightful seat alongside Four Tet, Gold Panda, Joy Orbison and other such open-minded producers at the head table of the pulsing contemporary UK scene that meshes together atmospheric Two-Step, Post-Dubstep, Glitch and House influences. His supreme single ‘Un Vingt’ and the various remixes he has been commissioned to produce in the last year have caused a serious stir in blog land. You don’t need to look far online to discover a vast body of uber-high quality tracks that many producers would be happy to be able to claim just a fraction of as their own, then hang up the production gloves for good! We are extremely excited about this closing set and hope you come to join us for the sublime, skanking late night antics. Big up!

Saturday night will see Oneman step into the Festibelly spotlight to top the bill of mainstage DJs.

In the last few years Oneman (a.k.a Steve Bishop) has made a name for himself as one of the most skilful and inventive DJs of the UK underground. With his inimitable style and technique he has managed to take the art of djing to the next level, recontextualising 2 step garage into dubstep, grime, funky, house and beyond.

Unlike most DJs, with an obligatory arsenal of their own productions, Oneman is renowned for his unrivalled DJ skills alone, and with these has managed to climb the DJ ranks to the very top. A beloved member of the Rinse FM family and veteran of London’s infamous Boiler Room, Oneman’s primary aim is to play music for people to dance to and down right have a good time. That’s why we can not wait for this man to grace the Festibelly stage on Saturday night – get your skank ready people and be prepared to be blown away by DJ Oneman.

Howard Marks at Festibelly. Who’da thunk it. We’re rather excited at the prospect of having a sit down and a good old chinwag with the legendary Mr Marks. Suffice it to say that the man’s got a fairly colourful past, his history of institutional stints ranging from Oxford University to Terre Haute Penitentiary.

Howard will be joining us to give a personal account of his rather extraordinary life so far. You can rest assured that that this man has a fair few interesting tales, so this one is not to be missed. Read more about him below.

Born in 1945 in Kenfig Hill, a small Welsh coal-mining village near Bridgend, Howard Marks attended Oxford University where he earned a degree in nuclear physics and post graduate qualifications in philosophy.

Described by the Daily Mail (UK Tabloid) as ‘the most sophisticated drugs baron of all time’, Howard Marks has worked with the British Secret Service and has been connected with the Mafia, the IRA, MI6 and the CIA.

Busted in 1988 by the American Drug Enforcement Agency and sentenced to twenty-five years at America’s toughest federal penitentiary; Terre Haute, Indiana. He was released on parole in 1995 after serving seven years.

In 1996 he released his autobiography, Mr. Nice, which remains an international best seller in several languages and was the best selling non-fiction book of 1997. On the subject of his book, he says:

“Through a plethora of media interviews and several public book readings, it became clear that the predominant reason why so many adolescents and university students read and enjoyed Mr Nice was their frustration with the law prohibiting cannabis consumption and trade. Until then, I had no idea of the extraordinary extent of cannabis use by young people today.”

During 1997, he performed his first live shows, which discussed his life as a marijuana smuggler and his views on drug use and legalisation. The shows received excellent reviews throughout the national press, and his now legendary one-man comedy show, An Audience with Mr Nice, continues to sell-out at venues throughout Britain and Europe covering an ever-widening range of topics.

Howard’s musical career, which was kick-started in 1996 by the Super Furry Animals’ track ‘Hanging With Howard Marks’, has flourished. He is a regular on the DJ circuit currently favouring the Dub Step sound but describing his own style as ‘stoned eclectic’. He launched a label ‘Bothered’ in the late 90s that featured material from Shaun Ryder, Stereophonics and a plethora of new bands. He still has several boxes of unsold CDs in his garage. He has played at Manumission, remixed tracks for Super Furry Animals, performed a spoken word track with Freebass, collaborated with Mick Jones and Tony James’ latest project Carbon/Silicon and compiled ‘Mr Nice – A Musical Trip With Howard Marks ’ an album of his favourite music. He has also taken part in spoken word tours with erstwhile New Order bassist Peter Hook and Kav Sandhu from the Happy Mondays.

Since his release from prison Howard has been politically active, standing for parliament in four separate constituencies (Norwich South, Norwich North, Neath and Southampton Test) in the 1997 general election on the single issue of the legalisation of Cannabis, catalysing the formation of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance. He applied for the position of Drugs Tsar, created by the Labour government in the late 90s but Keith Halliwell ‘pipped me at the post’. He continues to campaign vigorously for the legalisation of recreational drugs.

The Festibelly gang are hugely excoited to announce that New Young Pony Club will be topping the bill for 2011. Festibelly said ‘New Young Pony Club are an incredible band, not only on record but on stage too. Lead singer Ty is an amazing performer and totally captivating to watch. They’re a perfect headline act for Festibelly, with sing-along pop anthems to disco dance-floor fillers. We’re honoured to have them and pretty ruddy excited to see them in action on the Festibelly stage!’.

The punk-pop disco-rockers achieved massive international success in 2007 with hits such as ‘Ice Cream’ and ‘The Bomb’ taken from debut album Fantastic Playroom. 2010 saw the release of second album The Optimist which the NME described as ‘copper-bottomed, stone-clad, liquid nitrogen-fuelled pure pop genius’. An album full of beautifully crafted, edgier and darker disco-pop songs, it signified a dazzling progression of the bands sound, with tracks such as ‘Lost A Girl’, ‘Chaos’ and ‘We Want To’ establishing New Young Pony Club as one of the most credible and exciting bands in the UK.

Also set to make an appearance at the festival is the legendary Howard Marks, aka Mr Nice. Howard will be joining us for a quick, err… cup of a tea… and an intimate story-telling session with tales from his extraordinary past.

Other additions include long time Festibelly-favourite James Yuill (DJ),Channel Swimmer, Figures (James Delay & Jamie Blanco), Adam Street Singers, Francis Day and more.

AREAS

Massive In China
Like a rabbit in a raincoat in a box, Festibelly goers will be in for a surprise when they draw aside the curtains of the brand new Massive In China tent – a kaleidoscope of wrong cabaret and stand-up comedy, musically delightful soft to weird acoustic melodies, a bit of boombastic over to the light fantastic. Or get a bit vintage-crafty whilst watching circus performance and getting involved in a wonky gameshow or magic-not-magic act.

The Nest
A new treetop stage nestled amongst the giant oaks of the Festi-forest. Fear of Theydon will be curating a line-up that befits the mystical setting with luscious sounds of cosmic, disco and Balearic goodness pulsing through the trees.

Le Disco
Featuring everything from dubstep to disco, a full line-up of electronic acts will feature throughout the day and night. Taking it into the early hours Le Disco Silence will be catering for all the night owls.

Terrapin Station
An alternative to the main stage the Terrapin Station combines flavours of acoustic, folk, gypsy and jazz and is home to the notorious Festibelly Folk Off – the signer/songwriter competition where the discerning crowd will cast their vote and crown one lucky contestant Folk King/Queen, winning themselves an opening slot on the main stage for 2012.

Autumn Shift
Following up on their debut Festibelly appearance last year, Autumn Shift will be setting up to provide all manner of musical delights as well as their cosy cafe, live poetry, painting and massages should you be wanting to unwind after a hard day’s party.

Amazing Radio
Broadcasting live from the Festibelly site, the Amazing Radio team will be providing as-it-happens coverage of the festival, live sessions and interviews and all the latest news and info in the run up to the event.

Details

“DJ and producer of psychedelic techno, folk, disco and variations of the three…” – suffice to say this man’s got a few tricks up his sleeves, and billowing magical wizard sleeves they certainly are. The sky’s the limit when it comes to musical genres for the mysterious Mojo Filter. This Festi-fave has put together a rather eclectic blend of beats for our aural pleasure, from classical reworkings of Daft Punk through to his own fruity take of Raspberry Beret. Yeehaa.
